Casa Vela in Almazán
Descripción
It is a model of nineteenth-century eclectic architecture. It was built in 1875 by the family of the same name as a private residence, from where they could watch the horse races that took place in the area now occupied by Leocadio Marin Park. In 1989-90, it was handed over to the City Council for the location of the Retiree's Home and the Municipal Social Services Board. The building consists of two floors, divided by a molded and continuous cornice. The ground floor is decorated with highlighted smooth baseboard, and the rest is cushioned, with the entrance standing out. The first floor has smooth sills, with framed openings, and is topped by a molded cornice. All the openings are large rectangles with segmental arches and cast iron grilles. Inside, the access and the cast iron railing of the staircase are preserved, as well as the remains of two arcades from what was once the courtyard.
