Antonio Machado's House

Antonio Machado's House

Baeza , Jaén Edificio civil

Descripción

In front of the Town Hall, we find the house where the poet Antonio Machado lived with his mother during his stay in the city of Baeza. He moved to this house after staying for a while at the Comercio hotel, located on the central street of San Pablo. It is in this setting, after the death of his wife Leonor, where his most intimate thoughts flow. From this space, Mr. Antonio Machado walked every morning to give his French grammar classes, to his gatherings and talks. From here, he would walk down the promenade to meditate along the path that now bears his name: 'PASEO DE DON ANTONIO MACHADO' and contemplate the landscape of olive groves. Currently, the house is privately owned.
