Triumph of the Immaculate Conception Monument
Description
On the Paseo de la Constitución, an image of the Virgin rises on a baroque column. It is the Monument to the Triumph of the Immaculate Conception, founded in 1666. This type of work, which exalted the conceptionist trend of the 16th and 17th centuries and culminated in the dogma of the Immaculate Conception, is known as a triumph. The central promenade is not the original place where the monument was erected; it used to be in the common land of Baeza and later in the Plaza del Triunfo. The monument was not moved to the promenade by the Escuela Taller de Baeza until 1986.
