Palace of the Ponce de León. Filipense College

Baeza , Jaén Edificio religioso

Descripción

Construction from the late 15th century by the Ponce de León family. What remains from the original building is the double-height courtyard and, although slightly modified, the Baroque staircase.

After these dates, the building changed from its original domestic use to a nursing home called "San José" in the early 20th century. In 1925, it was acquired by Mr. Lorenzo Moreno Tauste, and many repairs were made. Most likely, the last facade renovation dates back to the early 20th century, reflecting the hierarchical 19th-century facades, based on walls of painted limestone masonry with high-quality iron grilles. In 1940, the Religious of the Philippine Institute took over the entire space and adapted the existing building into a school.
